What you'll learn

Learn to Recognize and Respond to Emotional Eating Triggers

You’ll gain the skills to identify emotional and environmental triggers that drive you to eat for comfort, distraction, or escape. Through guided self-awareness exercises, you’ll explore how emotions like anxiety, boredom, loneliness, or shame can lead to impulsive eating. You'll learn how to pause, reflect, and use DBT tools to respond more skillfully to these urges, building greater emotional clarity and self-control over time.

Build Mindful and Compassionate Eating Habits

This course helps you slow down and reconnect with your body’s natural cues through mindfulness practices, such as eating with awareness and tuning in to hunger and fullness signals. You’ll also learn how to approach food choices with curiosity instead of judgment, and how to replace critical self-talk with self-validation and compassion—key components in healing your relationship with both food and your body.

Strengthen Emotional Coping Without Turning to Food

Instead of using food to numb, distract, or soothe, you'll develop a personalized toolkit of DBT coping strategies—from urge surfing and self-soothing to emotion regulation and distress tolerance. These skills empower you to manage difficult feelings without relying on food for relief, increasing your confidence, resilience, and long-term emotional well-being.

“DBT is about building a life worth living — not just reducing suffering, but cultivating meaning.” — Marsha M. Linehan

Emotional eating is not a lack of willpower — it’s a coping strategy. Often, food becomes a way to soothe, distract, or numb difficult emotions. While it may bring short-term relief, over time it can lead to frustration, guilt, and disconnection from both our bodies and our feelings. This 12-week group is designed to help you build a new relationship with food and emotions using skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT is an evidence-based approach that teaches practical tools for managing intense emotions, improving mindfulness, and building emotional resilience.
